A dark tale based on the true story of Aileen Wuornos, one of America's first female serial killers. Wuornos had a difficult and cruel childhood plagued by abuse and drug use in Michigan. She became a prostitute by the age of thirteen, the same year she became pregnant. She eventually moved to Florida where she began earning a living as a highway prostitute—servicing the desires of semi-truck drivers. The tale focuses on the nine month period between 1989 and 1990, during which Wuornos had a lesbian relationship with a woman named Selby. And during that very same time, she also began murdering her clientele in order to get money without using sex. This turned the tables on a rather common phenomena of female highway prostitutes being the victims of serial killers—instead Wuornos, herself, carried out the deeds of a cold-blooded killer.

This was not an easy movie, but as was so captivated Charlize Theron processing and performance took center stage more than ever. Theron physical transformation of the incredibly beautiful woman who is hard and rough looking serial murderer Aileen Wournos was amazing. More than that, I appreciated your effort here, not only with all the makeup, but all the mannerisms, the way they walked, moved to his head, voice inflection .... everything. It was worth the price of the DVD movie Monster and I felt the same way after seeing the second month later. A sordid history is full of a bunch of f-words, so be ready for that if you have not seen and wondered about the language. It is very hard. It also includes a lesbian relationship between the two main characters, a relationship I have not found anyone to find attractive, frankly. I may not be able to recommend the DVD film Monster for its story, but if you really want to see an actress out of his element and give a great performance, check it out. My guess is that you are really like this DVD film Monster or hate it.

If you've seen Nick Broomfield's doc 'Aileen: Life and Death of a serial murderer,' and then you'll know how uncannily accurate performance of Charlize Theron in Monster, alternately frightening and sympathetic as Aileen Wuornos. Given the rest of his departure, I am surprised if not the defining performance of his career, but given the nature of the tower, most people are pleased to add to its curriculum. Monster is a somber, sad and harrowing film, and Theron is the center of it. But equally important is Christina Ricci, since it serves to balance and give Theron a spectacular hook to the story. As for the applause to the shower Theron, Ricci believe was overlooked, since it also offers a magnificent performance as the weak Selby, who is an accomplice in the majority of crimes and, therefore, like many a monster ways. Certainly, the DVD movie Monster takes liberties with the facts of the case, but so what? It is entertainment, not education. I am sure Wuornos' victims' families were not all happy that it was painted in such a way as to help them understand their crimes rather than simply its vilify them, but as a disturbing picture of the evil that men and Women, Monster is first class.
