| Brando is a middle-aged American whose wife has committed suicide; Schneider is a young beauty of Europe searching for a sense of personal identity. The two meet by chance in an empty apartment - and immediately initiate an anonymous affair in which Brando is trying both to purge and renew himself through Schneider. Both stars offer intense performances, and director Bertolucci invests the film with numerous poetic and symbolic flourishes. The cinematography is stylish, the result is very interesting. But when all is said and done, last tango in Paris is extremely thin as it is based on sexual orientation shock to generate tension - and what was once shocking is now passe. At the time TANGO was made, it was unthinkable that a major Hollywood stars that appear in that movie ... However, today by the rules, the nudity in question is fairly mild, the sex scenes are surprisingly quiet, and the script is strangely naive. Everything seems very tame. On the other hand, the movie subplots slow the action to a crawl and the film as a whole has a self-conscious, slightly pretentious tone. Brando and Schneider, both separately and together, they offer a number of impressive moments, but you have to wade through a lot to reach them. Is it worth it? Hard to say. Although I do not regret having seen the movie, I have been roundly not bother to see again. My recommendation: see it before buying, because one can see quite a bit. F. | The original X-rated version (recently rerated NC-17) is probably my favorite tragic romance that I have ever seen. Marlon Brando gives a fierce performance enthusiast who has yet to be matched by himself or any other actor. Surprisingly, the much-discussed scenes of sex (which does not really do that?) are not really an aspect of explicit nudity (not shown much.), but what he does not show the scenes that much more erotic and realistic. My only complaint is the last third is a little too prepared and the end could have been better constructed, but the points are debatable. any fan of classic cinema should have this movie in their collections. and nobody wants to see how to make a great romantic movie you should see this a tragically repeatedly. |
| After so many years of reading or hearing about this X-rated non-porn film starring Marlon Brando and directed by Bernardo Bertolucci, finally rented Last Tango in Paris, thinking he had a great clock of the masterpiece of a combination of two talents genius. What they saw was a little boring bordering on pretentious art film that seemed to grow repetitive after a while Maria Schneider alternately with the character of rejection, then acceptance Brando often violent and sexual force. While there were some funny scenes involving wordplay as "grunting instead of names" scene between the tracks, or a proposed marriage between Schneider and her boyfriend director Tom, that was not enough for Brando to the constant use of certain less irritating words as the image passed. After the famous butter scene that I have seen with clenched teeth, I thought the worst was over. Then Paul Jeanne cut a couple of nails so that it may stab their fingers in his ass! It is at this point that you really want it had stopped once and for all. There were some other things that I liked as the score of jazz, Paul of the conversation with the man who had an affair with his late wife, and the tango dance of various couples, even when Paul moon basically all there. Maybe if I were to do this again I give this a higher rating. For now I'm giving a mixed review, 5. |
