| Watched this film on video, and I found it entertaining. 5 years after his release, genetic engineering is even more frightening is that humanity now (2000) discovered the properties of DNA that makes the film more believable in the beginning. The monster of the similarity with the monsters in "Alien" films is striking, although more human in design (Giger). The story is weak, but it is still an entertaining movie. I do not think this movie appeals to viewers intellect. This is a cross-breed (as is the monster in the movie) and is based on elements of Sci-Fi, splatter movies, thrillers and soft porn movies. The special effects are not as impressive as, and is where the movie shows its age. While the end is almost a pure "Alien" rip-off, not to provide the suspence of the "Alien" movie. The Cliffhanger-rata in the end is a little funny, but contributes to the impression of an intellectually weak script with cheap solutions. Altogether a fun, almost-no-obvious movie based on a very interesting idea. |
| Former model Natasha Henstridge steps into the role of his clothes and a deadly alien that takes the form of a man and escapes from captivity (In a heavily guarded Science Lab) where he has held his entire life. His plan is to mate with a male and treat bull and a child and bad for the poor guy who tries to abuse it or refuses to go along with this plan, hot or your path is, are a group of people that the government should try and stop it before its type runs over the human race!. Although full of nudity and a plot of B movie (which lets be honest, that's basically what this is, except more cast) SPECIES avoids the usual trash a sordid to be expected from this type of film and in fact comes with a very neat little movie. All the actors were amazing in their roles and their characters are very interesting. Natasha Henstridge was a good choice for the role of the SIL, she is sexy, very pretty and is a very good actress as well. The direction of Roger Donaldson works well and the creature design is something ugly and beautiful at the same time (HR Giger Good job!) Definitely recommended to fans of science fiction / horror genre. Followed by two sequels from 2 SPECIES *** 1 / 2 stars |
| It seems that every decade has been a film in which I can fully enjoy again and again, even though it is nonsense. And it seems that the TV executives know exactly what those films are like "Commando" (with the governatore and Alyssa Milano), as well as "kind" is under way to the small screen in the Netherlands a couple of times each year. "Species" is a silly play very well. A secret government group, led by Kingsley, is a mixture of human DNA with a code they received from outer space (why is unclear), the creation of 'Sil', a young woman (Natasha Henstridge), who has a serious appetite for food and mating. When it escapes the lab was in a group of experts set up to hunt and eventually kill her. Great over the top performances by Kingsley, Madsen and, in particular, Whitaker, whispering that the incoherent to the camera while wearing some kind of stupid hat. Meanwhile, Henstridge is a pleasant surprise as a first-timer, and not too bad with the good eye. When the team finally faces the battle with 'Sil' (in a cave underground oil?) All logic is thrown overboard, but what remains is a fun movie. I am confident that I will catch it again in 6 months or so ... 6 / 10. |
