| To die is a great satire / black comedy, and with all due respect to Van Sant amusingly competent leadership and the evil deed, the key reason for its success is Nicole Kidman. In what is probably the best performance of his career, the actress sinks its teeth into the role of vacuous, self-centered Suzanne, a woman who wants to be a star and manipulates a trio of dumb teenagers - including James (Joaquin Phoenix) - what you want to get rid of her husband, Larry (Matt Dillon). Nicole Kidman is really great. His Suzanne is so unpleasant, superficial and soulless it is almost frightening. And Nicole looks absolutely stunning. I mean, she always does, but here is a wonder: just * oozes sex appeal and charm. The rest of the cast also features compelling performances from young actors - particularly a wonderful glassy eyes, dense Phoenix - playing a total of three idiots Dillon as the husband of Suzanne tire quickly from the Hedaya mafioso to Illeanna Douglas as Larry's sardonic Sister Suzanne quickly understood that the true nature. | S one thing i really like about this To Die For film is the way it juxtaposes two very different views of the character Suzanne Stone, through one-on-one with the camera in that speaks directly to the viewer and another through images that illustrate the events that led to the murder of her late husband. In one-on-the more we see Suzanne as she wants, obviously, to see the world: beautiful, happy and enthusiastic about the prospects that we think before opening despite recent personal tragedy. Meanwhile, through the flashbacks between them, which clearly emerges as the dumb, cruel, manipulative tramp she really is.
