| Like many others here, this ignores a criminal artistic triumph that deserves a greater reputation. I make the point that I think has gone through almost every critic and reviewer of this film: There is a time and only time in the DVD movie King of Marvin Gardens, The when there is music soundtrack. This happens as you travel outside the stadium after their mock "Miss America" historic. Why do you think this happens? My theory is the subject of high-point of the film. The highest level of achievement that have succeeded in making their dreams. Since then, a harsher reality intrudes on fantasy. If you follow this, then you begin to see how dramatically the DVD movie King of Marvin Gardens, The is constructed as a whole. It is a masterpiece of form. |
| I am surprised some respondents do not like this absolute masterpiece. I think it is their right, but I would suggest that they had another careful look at it. How can we not admire all the actors, especially Burstyn? How can one not be detected by the mystery of the story? How can you not appreciate Laszlo Kovacs' photography, the use of colors in a sad and decadent Atlantic City? Trust me, my friends, try again! This DivX Movie King of Marvin Gardens, The took the second position (right after Altman's "Short Cuts ") in my crew of the best movies of all time. |
| A truly great film, unfortunately, overlooked and under evaluation, monitoring of five Easy Pieces and Nicholson in his most impressive display. Perhaps the size of Atlantic City Louis Malle's DVD film King of Marvin Gardens, The of that name. Incredible act Nicholson, Dern, Burstyn ... great direction and cinamatography. The King of Marvin Gardens, The Crime is in a pre-casino Atlantic City, a kind of Coney Island perfected. A DVD film King of Marvin Gardens, The of real actors rarely see more. Perhaps difficult to see because it is still immensely rewarding. A DVD film King of Marvin Gardens, The that perfectly captures the time and place. | "Grim" might be the best word to describe this typically low early 1970 the life of film. There were a series of grungy such films made in that decade, and this is another one of them. It is also another example of a critical favorite that bombed with the public. Generally, people do not want to see stories like this depressing, but the Hollywood producers / directors crank out anyway in favor of their peers. How many films of that period did not see that they were optimistic and took place in Atlantic City? Probably none. The city is a perfect dingy stories about losers. The King of Marvin Gardens, The movie has a good feature cast, is understated and features a lot of good stories in nature, but never learned that it was going. The Commission concluded that a piece about the slow unappealing. Can you say "broken?" Not surprisingly, this King of Marvin Gardens, The movie is another failure at the box office, despite the cast? SOME GOOD POINTS - It is refreshing to see Jack Nicholson against the kind of play the role of an introverted monologist radio. Introverts do not play too many for a long time! Bruce Dern is interesting as always and if you want to see a "new" face, see the actress Julie Ann Robinson as "Jessica." This was their only function. |
| I thought that this higher than carnal knowledge and I am a little surprised by the reaction to it at the time of release. After five easy pieces: Stay Hungry película'72 and before that was fired and thrown aside. Nicholson guess they are not used enough eyebrows for public taste. Bruce Dern gives a superb performance of his shyster brother-dreamer with big plans. Ellen Burstyn is paranoid and rightly so, it gives a nice performance. The young Julie Ann Robinson is terrible. 7 out of 10. Bruce Dern = better performance. Scatman John Ryan and throw and has a fascinating piece of humor. What happened to Bob Rafelson? |
| This is a brilliant study of a great team that recently brought us the classic "Five Easy Pieces." If this review was not (and obviously not), that is their problem. The detail, the beautiful photography and amazing use of places of Atlantic City do this film, the more worthwhile. Atlantic City was shot as a tourist to die, is used as a metaphor for this strange symbiotic relationship between two very different brothers. Smart as David Nicholson and Bruce Dern (never better) and Jason scam artist to make a quick buck. Do yourself a favor and watch this little gem. |
