We had the opportunity to see the film and participate in a Q & A with writer / director Billy Ray. The film was so well written and portrays the events in such a way that in a very short period of time that you understand much more than was covered by all the books and newspaper accounts of the incident in which Robert Hanssen. He was fantastic with Chris Cooper on the road against another amazing performance. The Q & A with Billy Ray revealed a man who is so good at his craft and so methodical and strategic, however, at the same time fraught with uncertainty unnecessary. This is a must see! |
"Rape" is slow - slow enough to recommend waiting to rent for most people. It's a good story, but the material requires a methodical pace that had hoped for spectators persecution of cars and gun fights. The most authentic part of the film is its attention to detail. The interior of shots similar to the monotonous, boring government offices to portray. This realistic wonderfully touch will be lost on those who have not worked hard in those holes, is a pleasant film that finally represents a government office that looks like one, instead of a futuristic movie brilliant version that has more in common with the ship Enterprise. Intentionally or not, goes beyond the drabness of office space (apologies to - YEAHHH - Gary Cole). Laura Linney's hair is flat and boring, and as pale as a ghost. The entire exterior shots were cloudy with a 70% chance of showers, like all DC long winter. The grim aspect of the film increases subject, but probably some of the spectators with a bad taste. As a retired intelligence analyst, I liked this movie because it reminds us that there are traitors, and they cause damage to our national security. Like "United 93" is not easy or pleasant to see, but the subject is thinking. |
I did not like much. OK, your watch, but I never really involved. it reminded me some much-Russian spy movies of the 80ties, but perhaps his worst yet, because rape is not just for inspiration I did not like Ryan Phillippe game, while Chris Cooper and Laura Linney played so well this movie does not deserve them. Also - can we please see the CIA / FBI / NCA film without Dennis Haysbert in it? Of course, is very well filmed. Could it be better? Probably. Each story can be beautifully filmed, depending on the unit behind him 6 / 10 peace |
Despite the excellent acting in violation, the script and the plot leaves much to be desired. Much better to have stuck to the facts, since Hanssen's life and fall are interesting enough as is, without the plot contrivances of a very young and green Sleuth management at the height of its largest smart. It is very difficult to stay interested in the history of Hanssen if not immediately marginalize his assistant, rather than taking him into his confidence and, ultimately destroying itself. Perhaps a better actor Ryan Phillippe, who can not keep up with Cooper, viewers can manage the suspension of beliefs and participate in this invention. Hanssen was indeed a monster, but he never was so stupid. |
Failure is based on the true story of the arrest of Robert Hanssen, an FBI agent responsible for many treasonous acts against the United States. Chris Cooper is excellent throughout the image of a Catholic family man who goes to church constantly with his wife and children, while hiding their sexual perversions. Ryan Phillippe is Eric O'Neill, the new assistant to Hanssen, who is assigned by Laura Linney boss to keep tabs on Hanssen used as evidence against him. Caroline Dhavernas as the European Eric wife who wants Eric to come clean about his work, Gary Cole as another officer, and Dennis Haysbert as Linney top of the round of the fine cast in a movie that slowly but surely builds up the suspense various forms of snooping that brings the table closest to catching Hanssen in the act of treason. Do not expect James Bond or Alias action here. We hope to make an excellent drama about an agent who almost slipped from the hands of the FBI. |
