| While this may not tickle the fancy of non-British, is a brave comic tale cheerful little (very short), even a little pigeon with a big personality who wants to be in the RHSP wartime as a pigeon. The characters are well defined and well work together with a simple plot generously. Bugsy (Ricky Gervais) is hilarious and most of the voices were always perfect, but it would have been better if I did not have a mental image of the actors while looking for his alias of animation. Occasionally there are moments of dialogue or actions that are clearly meant to be funny and are not, but these are usually made of glass by nonsense. A must-see for fans of animation / British, but perhaps the most risible of the younger generation among us. |
| It was a valiant effort in just a cartoon movie. Without the budget of an American film this British film does well. It is based on the role of pigeons in the Second World War. The animations are delicious, is a talented voice cast for a change. Ricky Gervais is great fun long enough to turn as Ewan mcgregors friend. Although perhaps the animations are not as expansive as others such as Finding Nemo, the humor is still evident. This film could have been longer, it makes you feel a bit short-changed. Its nice to see a British film animation with its own unique characteristics, I think this movie will be shown repeatedly treated as a Christmas movie on TV. There are funny moments and this film is probably best for children. |
| I saw this movie in the world premiere in London. It has an incredible all-star British cast including Ewan McGregor, John Cleese, Ricky Gervais, Jim Broadbent, the list goes on. It's a simple story of a little above average dove who decides to join the housing Pigeon Service. The animation is first-rate and the characterizations are excellent. Younger children may be a little afraid of the scenes with the hawks, but this is only a minor foible. It is a history of substance British and although there are only English accents and voices. I hope our American cousins are not off by this, after all Britons who watch a lot of American films, whether animated, live action or CGI. It's fun and has a real feel-good factor about it and tells a story of war about animals are the heroes of a change, which is good. Go and see, you will not be disappointed. |
| The exams are awful brave. This seems to me to be a big mistake, I personally loved the movie, is bigger mistake is the lack of a good target audience, it's a bit silly animated film for children with fart jokes and such, but it has done in my view three times as many jokes for adults about World War 2. In fact I think we may have liked more than my brothers who are 12 and 6. That has some hilarious cracks in Hitler and the D-Day which is usually something that is impossible for me to laugh about. The short (76 minutes) of time only helps the film because there are only so many jokes you can do without offending someone and never tries to use more than once. The plot is full of holes, but is perfect for making all the jokes. The screenplay has a good dialogue and makes all the great jokes. The voice talents are great. The film is well directed, but it could have been better. The film is perfectly animated. |
| This film is about a dove call brave, to whom one does not believe you could do something big. It is that Britain does a great service in World War II as a messenger pigeon. The animation is excellent. The movements are soft, and the birds are portrayed in great detail. However, the plot is very thin and totally predictable. The humor is not funny, because it is repeated every 30 seconds. It should not have been 30 scenes in which birds have air collisions and 30 scenes in which the birds affected and after a fall. That does not even count the 30 and Farts Belcher. And I forgot to mention armpit odor? The filmmakers can be more inspired and do less crude humor? I am not sure whether the children will enjoy this. The characters are not even nice or pretty. It is not enough fun. |
| I can not see where this Disney animated feature film ever made really great time. It offers some really good things but overall it is simply not funny enough to be a success. No doubt the images should be a smash. Man, this is a beautiful movie. The colors are bright and bold, scene after scene. It is a visual feast. For that reason alone, I give you seven "stars". Some of the humor is funny and very smart, but not enough of it. The story is about a take-off, since World War II movies that children never "get". The excess of gags involving slapstick as one of the doves fly on a wall or falls down, making a loud noise or "Bugsy", and much Farts Belcher. This happens often and carries thin fast. The laughs come more to Subtle things. Story-wise, is the unusual or maladjusted-be-heroes story, so common in movies. Valiente is the little pigeon who really should not even be in the Royal Pigeon Service homing because it is too little, but is put in, along with his friend above smelly "Bugsy" and then inspires all at the same time wooing a beautiful nurse. Once again, however: Hats off to the artists. This is a beautiful feature-film animation. |
