| If you are familiar with "The Hitcher," with Rutger Hauer, and liked it, you might like this. The main difference in the two films is that here, the murderer never leaves his car. It's not as intense or well done as the first, but Highwayman is decent enough for a look. It is very short so it is not going to waste the whole day, anyway. The story in a nutshell: a serial murderer is drained a young woman in his car at random and was not caught for years until Jim Caviezel, whose wife also was a victim of the murderer, figures out is the same man, and he by the tracks for a clash of their own. The DVD movie Highwaymen starts well and is very intense, but lost momentum in the second half. Boredom is not the problem, is the credibility of the story. There is just too many holes in the fabric and becomes nothing credible. Not surprisingly, this Highwaymen Action movie does not have much publicity: it has too much of a "B" feel to it, despite the presence of Caviezel. However, it is entertaining and effective operating time of the story is a mere 76 minutes, so if you're looking for an hour and a quarter of escapism, that's all. |
| SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT * * * "Highwayman" is a psychopath who likes to run women over with his car. The end. It's a little "fast track" and a little "Joy Ride". This is a solid B-movie. It is always refreshing to run into a decent B-movie now and then. Aahhhh. I updated. Therefore, psycho decides to run for the wife of a man who as obsessive / compulsive like him. Soon they will spend their days and nights of worry-free hunting each other on the road. They are Highwayman. Another girl was found between their Chase. She is bait for the final car grudge match. I enjoyed this. Murderer of cars, roads, Highwayman, what more do you need? I especially liked the monstrous mechanical aspect of the psychopath. "There's a lot of me in that car." And along the way. And in that other car ... |
| Strikingly beautiful and dark Moody, "Highwayman" really surprised me. I can kind of understand why he was released. I really do not fit comfortably into a general "horror" category. It is a beast all it's own. I'm assuming that the dealers are afraid that we may not have found an audience with all the successes that surround it. But if "The Passion of the Christ" was made before this DivX film Highwaymen ... money in the bank with Jimmy C baby! This is a worthwith find on DVD, however, and find that the audience through word of mouth. Joins the small genre of "road kill" movies that many people are unaware of. Spielburg of "Duel" is the king. Followed by the surprise television show "Night of Terror". As well as "the car", "road games", "Breakdown," "Joy Ride" and, of course. "The Hitcher." We all share the middle of nowhere-sunny-partched-lips-dirty-auto-murderer-goes to-me-over-quality. The sub par is Jim doing something with his eye injured and Mitra for his biting vocal trying not to sound British. The director, editor and of course the art director (who is this genius?) Are the real stars here. I will say it again. So it's worth renting. |
