It seems that Henry Chinaski is Polonius advice to heart. This adaptation is a character who is always true to himself, no matter the consequences. Matt Dillon's image Chinaski is strong, self-erase style makes it more pleasant than might be otherwise. Lili Taylor is a charming work and at some point in his girlfriend Jan Their scenes together are always interesting (with or without bandages), with the characters that developed constantly. The dialogue has plenty of pop. A little film noir, a little a comic book, the film has a nice feel to the first-person narration of Chinaski taking us on his tour. It could have been in black and white, but is very well filmed in color. One of those rare movies a little at home at a film festival (Cleveland's, in this case) or in your local theater. |
Henry Chinaski is so true to itself even in sh * t and situations. That what makes it nice character. Factotum shows us a real big-time losers life and its decline. It is as great comic book in real life. Chinaski and you feel pity for him, but while they laugh at each situation is put on. Very good performance by Matt Dillon. He showed some real character development. Like he did Lily Taylor as a means ready in January Great atmosphere and great characters Factotum make nice black comedy. I do not think much of Bent Hamer before, but it's really Factotum off piece of art. |
Some of the most beautiful films with the same theme in common: the main character, living a life of insignificance and apparently empty. Factotum feel like one of those movies that elevate this issue to a higher level (along with American Beauty, Lost in Translation, The Big Lebowski, etc.). In Factotum, we see the fiction alter-ego of writer Charles Bukowski nihilistic living a life of alcohol and bad relationships. Nothing really happens in history, besides the protagonist of the story were fired in the battle against racetracks, trying to pick up the check for the days he worked at a company, and a bunch of times to drink or having sex. This completes the story nothing comes of it is tough. I sometimes literary craven for something to happen, anything. But I was also impressed and mesmerized by the way this film really captures the essence of Bukowski on the psyche of history as a kind of follow-up to the scenes of humor, without a great line of the plot. Fortunately, the black humor remains consistently good until the end, and that certainly holds the attention. Although I am not a big fan of Matt Dillon, I consider it ideal for this role. He is playing very sarcastic man with an air of arrogance and cynicism. I did not know he had that side to it, but in no doubt that Factotum is demonstrating that it has. I hope you will accept similar functions in the near future and therefore is able to elevate their status de''Muñeco''a''grave''actor. |
First, my only complaint with the film about the authenticity. And that is only because I am a big fan of Charles Bukowski. I never thought about Matt Dillon as a "great" actor. But I thought the role of Dillon as Bukowski was just fine. I almost can not put my finger on it. It looks a bit like decent Buk, but his performance seems almost too real, like a mediocre impression. I do not know. It's just not very compelling or natural or something. I am not an acting coach. He just did not click with me as Bukow * ...* Ahem, Chinaski, anyway. On the whole the film not only captures the feeling of Bukowski's novel. It seemed too clean for some reason. The whole movie just seems much more tame that literature. His writing reflects this great sense of adventure, danger, and a frequent crude vulgarity. But it also has a very Artful heart to it. The film is totally lost, in my opinion. But believe it or not, however, I still think it's a good movie. Outside the interpretation of Charles Bukowski's novel, it's still fun to see, usually with good results, and a phenomenal history have relied on. |
