Down and out rock star Dewey Finn (Black) gets fired from his band, and he faces a mountain of debts and depression. He takes a job as a 4th grade substitute teacher at an uptight private school where his attitude and hijinx have a powerful effect on his students. He also meets Zack, a 10-year-old guitar prodigy, who could help Dewey win a 'battle of the bands' competition, which would solve his financial problems and put him back in the spotlight.

I like it, I like it, in fact, yes! With a Judy Garland / Mickey Rooney plot, this movie has a wonderful musical and comedy and is in turn a wholly enjoyable, fun, informative and travel! I liked that Jack Black always treated his students with positive reinforcement, which is really important is whether anyone ever have the guts to go on stage. He was never down or discouraged unless it was a very fun and disappointing! And never on the students themselves. I like Jack Black, I love this movie, and I love rock'n'roll above all else! Forget the cliches. Let yourself have fun. And stick to the man !!!!!!
I guess this is what they call a "cute" movie. That is, and a good performance by the lead actor Jack Black, who puts a lot of energy in this role as "Dewey Finn." Black not only puts everything on paper, but so lively that it is a real trip. I do not know if multiple displays his character would wear thin but not surprising. His character is a little hyper, to say the least. Most children here are much more pleasant and the music is good, too. The bad points are the usual Hollywood trash that young children the wrong message: it is cool to rebel against strict parents and is "cool" to use profanity. Give me a break! It is worth a rental for entertainment but not one buys the wrong messages of support for their children. I know it will not be a popular statement here on IMDb. However, I did enjoy this movie and performance in Black.
I always like to see another movie where Jack Black is the opportunity to make a fool of himself, but "The School of Rock" really blew me away. I think we kept laughing over 80% of the film and none of the scenes were corny fun in any way. This must be the most appropriate for the film of Jack Black so far and it is obvious that he had a great time playing their part and try to do the best I could. I was so anxious for the next goofy scene in which she loves rock trivia applied to ten years of age, students, which I stopped to think about the fact that it is really impossible to teach children to rock and roll within a school. There is only one scene where the children hide their instruments and the "professor" mimics a class, but it does not matter because the film succeeds in making the wish that the children of the rock band arrives to play his music at a concert . The end of the film, where the band practices in the room of Dewey during the credits, is so beautifully shot that I simply found myself silly clapping while listening to the rock improvised.
