Gosford Park is a great movie that shows us a brief glimpse of what life was like aristocrats of the 1930s. The film is interesting for me, mainly because of the painstaking detail that was put into every scene. Robert Altman did an excellent job with the character of the interactions that occur throughout the film. In addition, it is interesting to pay attention to how Altman separated from the upper class of their agents. He makes sure to show a clear distinction between the two. I enjoyed this movie and still largely catch things every time I see him. If you have not seen the movie, is on pay per view now! |
"Gosford Park" works best is seen as a wonderful tribute to two very British genre: the comedy of manners and the old whodunit. In any case, the film shows that the director Altman is one of our best directors of America. Those of us who admire the director has learned that there are no insignificant details in an Altman film. I loved the way the director takes us from one room to another, and allow us to listen to conversations very private. I felt like a fly on the wall. Altman makes us part of his movie, and that makes me feel that he is an artist who cares about his audience. We do not see from far away, we are part of the drama. Altman also made me feel like God, the supervision of the poor people from above. There are so many characters, so many subplots, which maintains that dates back to the early scenes to see what the characters were talking. But this is part of the fun of seeing the film. I am amazed that Altman could keep track of so many things. He had to be a nightmare for edited the film. The cast is marvelous. It is a delight from beginning to end. |
Excellent film about an "idea". The murder mystery is in itself a "MacGuffin" to the central question of some of the characters of relations. This film is worthy of its Academy Award nominations and! View twice, since it has more ideas on a more narrow, but it is full of "inside" entertainment for fans of the films of the era and the genre of pop music in the 1930s. Truly a joint effort with an excellent work hard for veterans and the young British geniuses. |
All this is the critical fault. They all said this movie is about a murder mystery and it is not. It's his fault that so many people do not like such a wonderful film. The film is not about 'Who has done? "Is' Who's Who' and if you look carefully you will see that these people do not change at all at the end of the film, except for the sisters who love again. But yes, I have to admit that it is really hard to fallow. I've seen four times and I still do not have the slightest idea who the hell is Lord Stockbridge. And I knew that Robert was stabbed man. This is not a movie for everyone, especially young people without heads in search of confessions and usually detective of the incredible conclusion that it was clear from the beginning. But I love the character development, and whenever I like. If you're western, it fell as a server instead of a first floor. That's the idea, because I believe that the British tend to look to the past, and the Americans until now. I mean, I liked Mabel from the outset, without even knowing where of him. And the Countess of Trentham. I did not know whether her love or hate. It is this vision of England, most of us, pride, luxurious and very hypocritical. No offense to British citizens. It's a great drama about a murder, where the least important of them all thin is the murder itself. |
This film is full of visual delights and witty dialogue! There's always something in every second of the film. The disadvantage of this is that the film is sometimes difficult to follow. The simultaneous talks does not help either. The identity of the murderer is a bit unexpected. How to find out some cleaning all the facts? I would like the movie more to say about how she appeared on the murderer. The acting is quite good in general. The only person who bothers Ryan Phillippe, whose act was disappointing. |
I plan to see again sometime. Maybe I will offer a more comprehensive review. With Robert Altman, there are so many layers, so many characters, knowing that the plot and the connection will make a revision of the fun. As it is, I had a difficult time to keep an eye on all activities and secrets. There was a certain drone, but then I started to get to the complexity of all this. As with most mysteries, especially the English Manor mysteries, we need first to wade through the hierarchy of those involved. We have to have an eye for the British caste system. People born in arrogance. People are born into poverty. Things being equal. So when these lines are crossed, it creates a lot of difficulties. Like a novel by Anne Perry, the role of women is a particular problem, because there are other things to govern or command. I felt that the proceedings were masterly and subtle. People are cruel and distant. Hide luggage seems to be the norm and this must be waded through. Again, go back and see again, and see that unfold, as if it were one of the readers of mystery that begins with the last page. |
