| The movie is cute, and certainly one of the children and so on. As an adult, I found it harmless and watchable. My three children 6-11 enjoyed a lot. I loved Michael Clarke Duncan as a voice talent. It could have listened to him and the character he played all night. Other actors do not seem as polished, allow Wallace Shawn and Debra Jo Rupp were good as expected. There is so much action with the dogs playing sports, however. The movie (no spoilers) is about Air Buds 5 puppies and how they are kidnapped. The bumbling kidnappers foil everything, but Air Bud and his "dog Wife" (a subdued Molly Shannon) to head to rescue her two cubs along the middle school age boys. The film seems to borrow quite a lot of live action Disney's 101 Dalmatians. However, it is still a good way to have a family night. |
| My 7-year-old daughter loved it, as Disney executives calculated that it crassly. That is the problem with the "Friends of the air." It is a strictly by the number of children in the film full of carefully calculated Cuteness, a pair of politically correct moral, and potty humor enough to avoid the dreaded G rating. As a parent, or even as a 10-year-old, who has seen it all before and done better before. Think of "101 Dalmatians Meets Home Alone" and you get the general idea. I am of the view that a good children's story is a good story, period. "Air Buddies," which is about as original as recycled paper, does not meet that standard. It is not the worst video of your child can see, but there are megatons of the best. |
| We rent this movie (along with Material Girls), by a group of four 9 and 10 year old girls to see the New Year. They absolutely loved it. Surprising for me, 2 of them commented that he liked much more than the Material Girl (Hillary Duff's film - and these girls are age where most are big fans of Hillary Duff), is corny and there are some parts you do not cares. I think the part that suggests that the puppy was drunk from swimming in some wines that are best left outside. (Tell me - is not fermented wine yet at the point he was swimming in it, right? I'm thinking that it was too early in the process of winemaking.) I also do not mind gas jokes - but the girls laughed . I have not seen any outbreak of air movies (I guess that there have been several?) So I can not compare - but it's nice and a reasonable bet for the pre-teen set. |
| Dear Richard, I know that all beings that Home Improvement with Tim Allen. But seriously, do you have anything else to do besides lame sequels to Air Bud? I would have thought Tim might actually give you a bit of paper now, or even become her personal assistant. I know it seems ironic, but benefits are much more rewarding. The whole world would see around Tim and instantly think "Tool Time". You even get roles with Bob Vila more often. Instead, appearing for 10 minutes with a Golden Retriever and smiling. I know it was not much of a script, but you could have added to it. I mean, come on. Tim owes him one. But seriously, this movie does nothing for the line of Air Bud. Quite the contrary, the false talk Cornier puppies are really seeing the dogs play sports. The original was better. And you, Richard Karn, who knows more than anyone else. This is an "F" movie. |
| This was a very nice and pleasant little movie.Of course it's not perfect, nor was absolutely brilliant, but it is a very good and entertaining movie.It the boy has nothing to do with any of Basketball, which is one reason I found it better than Air Bud, is hehe.There some material that I have on my nerves, and then other things, it was just kind of stupid, but this movie worked and I am glad that I could see, because it's a neat little movie He is underrated if you ask me.If you're a Die Hard Bud air fan, this might not be for you, but if you hated Air Bud, why do this movie in the first place? |
