It is above all the romance and fight in this old western-comedy. That is pretty funny, John Wayne with the cast is good and, overall, this is fun. If you like the old western movies, including romance and twisted comedy with big fights you will like this. 7 / 10
This movie is too funny! And too encouraging! I can not see this movie again and again and still laugh! And it's not slapstick! Only the good ole healthy American comedy! My favorite! Three men, (well, two men and a teenager) and a French woman! What a combo! John Wayne is his usual macho self. That's always fun to watch. And Stewart Granger is soooo good here! I have seen him on many things, but I think that was the same thing here! He is very funny! Fabian and poor. Breaks my heart with his love-sick adoration of Michelle! If you have not seen this, you should rent it. You will be glad you did. And the end result will be seen again. It is that kind of movie.
I'm seeing at least 12 hours of John Wayne tonight. Am I mad? Probably. Fight? This film has no STINKIN struggle, which has an all-out mud-brawl! There was a time that the Duke have liked pop stars around him. It s one of three in a row. This was a Fabian, who sang "If you knew." This is a very funny movie and a real bed. John Wayne is very much in his element in this film, but history and issue causes some to dismiss her. Give him a fair chance and see who is really a good film.
John Wayne plays Sam McCord, who teams with George Pratt, played by Stewart Granger, striking it rich with a gold mine around the turn of the century in Alaska. Fabian plays George's younger brother, Billy. George Sam sent back to Seattle to bring back his girlfriend who, instead, Sam brings a chorus girl played by Capucine. Henry Hathaway directs this comedy swinging fist. Of course, Mr Wayne is in charge of the fist fight and Fabian is the rear and source of most of the comedy. Comic Ernie Kovacs plays a bridge Snider claim. Fast fun of a picture. A nice light side of "Duke" Wayne.
