| Wow. What can I say. I went to see this last night with the attitude that it would be a love story Girly weepie movie. I was wrong. Yes, there was love story, but it is the shocking elements of the war that really hit me. This film will leave you breathless. Not only because of Nick Cage, but the horrible reality that this kind of thing does not happen. Amazing movie. |
| 'Captain Corelli of the mandolin' is a fantastic movie in itself. It's nothing like the book, which can disapoint his ardent followers. However, viewed on its own, the film is a masterpiece. The views are spectacular and the performance is not too bad either! Nicolas Cage was brilliant, so different from his usual action hero type character. Penelope Cruz is excellent and really has the film together. I think this film has to be tried as an indivdual projects not related to the book. Louis de Bernieres relinquished the rights of the film script, so the film is an interpretation of the director, John maddon. Go see this movie with an open mind, you'll love it, because underneath is the touching story of love and war. |
| Turning his back, put me through the whole range of emotions. The setting was fabulous, magnificent throughout. The German officer was very good, which is a character to play. Nic Cage was fantastic as always, perfect for this role. You do not have to be his best role since "City of Angels." Full marks to all participants. I loved this movie completely, can not wait to get on DVD and watch again and again. |
| The film is in a beautiful Greek island. It is a love story for adults that take place during the Second World War. I found the beautiful island to be a joy to watch and film to be impressive. It seemed that was filmed in 3D with richness and depth. The story is touching with good acting all around. I think the film could have been expanded to develop the story more complete. The Greek people are warm and loving, Italian soldiers were fun loving and laid back and the Germans were expecting it to be, except for the official who accepted the surrender of the town's mayor who does not renounce the German dog that an Italian. This is not a story for younger moviegoers but I believe that adults will enjoy very much. |
| I am really looking forward to this movie. After reading a series of tests before the release, it sounded like a really nice movie, which was a nice and interesting filmed with a cast (Nicholas Cage, Penelope Cruz and John Hurt). Well, it could have been all those things, but it's so boring that I almost defy anyone to sit through this in full and hold the attention. In addition, the kennel's attempt to talk to an Italian accent is embarrassingly bad. He is such a good actor that I cringed every time I spoke in this film. "Disappointing" seems to be the word most often used by reviewers to describe this movie, and I totally agree. I suppose it did not take long for word to get out about how bad this movie was because, like the accent of the cage, do not do well. |
