Lyon Gaultier's brother gets murdered after welshing drug associates in Los Angeles. Lyon is in North Africa serving the last six months of a hitch in the French Foreign Legion when he gets word of the incident, and he unsuccessfully petitions his cold-blooded superiors for leave to tend to family matters. Desperate, Lyon knocks several legionnaires out and stows away on a steamer headed for America. Once Lyon gets near New York harbor, Lyon jumps ship and tries to come up with a way to get enough money to head for California. Lyon comes into contact with street-fight promoter Joshua, an alcoholic ex-street-fighter who links Lyon up with Cynthia, an organizer of no-holds-barred bare-knuckle fights that secretly entertain the wealthy across the country. The minute Lyon makes it to Los Angeles, Lyon finds that his brother's killers are in police custody. Lyon is soon fighting various contenders — ranging from a Scotsman in a kilt to a long-haired surfer — earning money to help keep bill collectors away from the door of his widowed sister-in-law Helene and his niece Nicole, who comes to love him. Although Lyon only wants to bash opponents long enough to gain enough money to assist Helene and Nicole, Cynthia is reluctant to let go of her new meal ticket. Helene blames Lyon for not helping his brother sooner, But Lyon keeps fighting and secretly sends her money in the guise of an insurance policy that she didn't know about. Cynthia decides to import a killer-fighter named Attila to polish Lyon off. Not only does she bet against Lyon, she also schemes to turn him over to the Foreign Legion after Atilla beats him. But Lyon has other plans. And there is also a pair of men from the Legion who have been assigned to find Lyon and bring him in.

Lionheart is clealry one of the best films of Van Damme in its early days. The film has good fight scenes and a good plot. Harrison Page as Van Damme of the child provides a good line and a lot of Van Damme starts a lot of ass. I *** of ****.

Lionheart is one of Jean-Claude Van Damme best films! Van Damme was good, 80 classic sledge Hammer series star Harrison Page was very good.The Qissi brothers were very good and loved the character of Abdel Attila! He is a big one as I like many things about him! Brian Thompson was good as ever Voyo Gorica was here and look AKA Tony Halme Ludvig Borga near the end in the great fight! The film is never boring and has lots of action and great music by John Scott! If you like Van Damme and anti movie Lionheart then check-out!

I'm going to write this review in a use of a new form that he invented, known as a process of watchability. I'm going to just one point so every reason why it is impossible not to see this movie. Are you a man? You like people getting kicked in the face? Do you like Van Damme? Would you like to see him punch a kind Scottish soldiers on the front of a crowd of bloodthirsty yuppie scum? What about his brothers avenge the death for their involvement in a series of streetfights finally win the love and respect for his sister in law? Telling the French Foreign Legion, where things can go? Ladies with rich hot early 90 haircuts? Let's be serious people here, what is in this film that makes unwatched? Van Damme (also a co-writer) is actually a reason for his Belgian accent, which makes Van Damme kicking on a lot of people, and his brothers murder avenger. Perfection, sublime.

Van Damme is at his best here, it's a good film that moves at a steady pace and it is almost like a Rocky / Street Fighter film type. The characters are played well and the right of the actors and actresses are given the right roles. Van Damme's coach is big and silence defiantly Van Damme is the best. The plot also relaxes at the right times and at the right pace. You must give this movie a go.

This is easily Van Damme better Movie.So much better after the bomb triple double spin kick from films such as Bloodsport and Kickboxer, but this movie contains some of these movements as well.It 's wonder why not do a Van Damme more of these types Movies.From from start to finish this movie is the family, and I thought that Van Damme has acted very well, and in my opinion has an excellent supporting cast, notably Harrison Page, one could argue that was true star of the film and again I wonder why it should not take her career after this.A very underrated actor who somehow has flown under the radar of his Hollywood.Even if not a fan of Van Damme rent this movie, is you pleasantly surprised.

One thing about this movie is the plot. Basically it is fighting Lionheart to raise funds for his dead wife and kid brothers. Not much to the plot, but its rare. The fight scenes are okay. The best is the fight in the final. (Lionheart man did not go) What is your character sets Lionheart: he is a survivor hard, but the attention. In this movie there are no shootouts, scenes of sex or explosions. That is what separates it from most of Van Damme movies. However, there is a graphic scene of a man who sets fire to be advised on. The sad end is happy at the kind of way. This is definitely a must see.
