| If there are 10 things I would like to advise my grandchildren to do in his life, watching this movie is the 2nd. Do you think I am joking, but I'm not. Over the years of cinema throughout the trend of men in drag has been used, then abused the label of being gay. For all that homo-phobics who think that this is merely a "Girly movie" impertinent drag with unfunny gags, and then stop there. You can not be more wrong. I agree that a man dressed in women's clothes dress is no longer a big deal and it is never humorous, after centuries of it. This is the most witty, fun and relaxed so many film directors and actors have completely lost when dealing with all the "drag" of the area . The story is a very warm and temperate views outside of work actor (Dustin Hoffman) is told by his agent (Sydney Pollack) in all the kindness that no one will hire. He takes himself to dress like a woman only for what it is not recognized by those outside p'ed has in the past. Michael Dorsey to Dorothy Michaels, Hoffman plays a woman with a justice who forget that it is not real. Like everyone in the movie, you will fall head over heals Tootsie! |
| Although this is Hoffman in the movie (and it is very good), Jessica Lange steals the show as Julie. Charles Durning adds another great performance to this growing gallery of Lange as of old. Terri Garr is bearable for a change and there are a lot of interesting features performances, especially by the director Sydney Pollack. A 7 out of 10. Best performance = Jessica Lange. A comedy that has not dated (Bill Murray is also exceptional). I can not imagine anyone not enjoying this story from New York. Hoffman deserved his Oscar nomination and I am glad Lange won an Oscar for support since he lost to Mess Streep instead of winning for FRANCES. |
| It is hard to deny that this is a funny movie, because it is so fun! I'm still cracking up after all these years, every time I see it. I have seen countless times, and it is still a huge clock. Dustin Hoffman plays Michael Dorsey, an unemployed actor, who does not seem to get along with any director or writer in the city. One day, he has his friend, Sandy to audition for a part in a soap opera. She is rejected, and because it is so desperate for work, who dresses up like a woman, and goes in for the interview itself. He was hired by her (I mean it) attitude, and the rest of the movie, now known as Dorothy Michaels. The film is hysterical, and well written. There is a moment that I've seen this movie, which does not laugh or smile. It is light, but has some adult material that might be inappropriate for children under twelve. It's nice, and really not much more than that. I think the whole world the love that once given a chance. |
| It's more than a movie about a man in drag and is more than just a great movie. This film is going to show that Dustin Hoffman is the best at playing the oh-so-very different characters. Whether in his unforgettable character in carussa or Michael Dorsey / Dorthy Michael in the present, Dustin is at his best when playing someone different, someone who is not your average person. This film will make you laugh, that's sure, but also will have to reflect on the things that really make you happy in your life, something that very few of us think about ... Almost never. |
| This is a wonderful film, I can not remember how many times I've seen, I love it! Dustin Hoffman is brilliant as Michael Dorsey and Dorothy Michaels.Along with Jessica Lange and Teri Garr and great leadership and co-stars Sydney Pollack, this can not be any better.It 's a great story, well written and very funny besides. If you love movies you can not not love one.This this is my 2nd favorite movie in the mundo''sólo because some like caliente''que is my first choice.Dustin is one of the best players in the business and remains to this day. |
| It is strange to see a man dressed as a woman always seems to be funny and popular with audiences. Milton Berle helped make TV parodies of this type in your show early 1950. They work here, too, with Dustin Hoffman implementation of the composition and role to the hilt. Helping Hoffman Jessica Lange in, for now, their role more attractive. I'm not particularly a fan of her but she expects spectacular here, almost like Marilyn Monroe. This was a popular film, because the humor was good and both drivers did a good job, and people like a good story of romance, too. Hoffman, like him or not, it's a fabulous, capable of playing many different roles. He is an amazing actor. Sometimes overlooked is the big name supporting cast that includes Dabney Coleman, Teri Garr, Bill Murray, CHARES Durning and Geena Davis. The latter is making its debut on the screen here! This is not as "nice" as it was 25 years ago, but surely that was a bit hit justifiable in the first 80. |
