Well ... Where do I start with this? Well, basically, this movie is simply scandalous. I have to say, is a great example of the destruction of such a pleasant character (Garfield). The reasons why is because Nermal not disturb the character of Garfield (voice of Bill Murray), Garfield sings a song about how they are alone (!) Is the story about Jon (Breckin Meyer) to obtain A new dog named Odie, but Odie is kidnapped and Garfield must rescue him (OH THE HUMANITY!) and more. In some parts of the movie Garfield is sometimes not a lazy cat, and sometimes becomes friends with Odie. Is it really this movie as Garfield? Definitely not. If you like Garfield comics, then you do not see this. I promise, you'll regret it.
Well all I can say about it is that their base of children the movie - parents'll seems fine, but you can not wait until it was over, while children will love it more likely. Personally, as a 20-year-old single male who enjoys children films like Finding Nemo and other things, I thought it was fine. Kinda dragged in some parts of the movie, but the humorous attitude of Garfield makes it bearable to take their children. Therefore, unless you have children, I would suggest that just like a rental when it has nothing to do on a Sunday night. Below are the general pros and cons: Pros - funny points with the attitude of Garfield, which basically keeps the film from being a total bust. Cons - often drags in points, and bearable for most children and adults who enjoy children movies from time to time. But that's just me.
Like many other critics of this movie, I've been a big fan of Garfield as long as I can remember. I do not think that the film could have been better? Yes. I do not like that, anyway? Yes. I think the writers could have used a lot more of the original cartoon-like influence of the film, but still manages to deliver. If you find movies with talking animals, nice and pleasant, like me, then you will probably like this movie. Just be prepared a lot of liberties with the original comic-strip story is taken and this is not going to be exactly the same type of Garfield that people like me have grown up with. I'm going to go ahead and give this movie a 7, because I like animals and films that played the leading role, but I felt that the story might have been a little better. Definitely something that young children can enjoy, but for fans who want to see Garfield the cartoon characters brought to life, you can leave something to be desired. However, it made me smile in several scenes.
Garfield took and turned it into a boy of the film. Why? The comics were very adult-oriented, in a way that would be seen as someone considered the thought of a newspaper in his lunchbreak. Mish mix of characters made so charming, lazy cat Garfield, John was a loser, Liz wanted nothing to do with him and Odie the dog was very lonely mute in the corner. Therefore, when you took this movie and turned it into a gooey, kid friendly festival, where all live happily ever after, what are they thinking? John is not so much a loser as only a spectator, Liz is a romantic love interest that really has feelings for John completely across the strip "John is a loser" dynamics of the comics. I do not like to feel good comedy as you can probably tell, and I certainly do not like it when they take something as iconic as Garfield and turn it into sticky, dumb, Disney-like film. This film is not all bad, in Bill Murray's voice is excellent and was well cast, Garfields sarcastic banter is present and correct, provoking laughter occasionally, but never really rise to greatness. The rest of the cast is competent, as is the address, you can not help but feel that this film could have been really good if you are not a. .. guy from the movie.
What made me scratch my head between Arbuckle and Liz Wilson's relationship was that Liz, portrayed by the charming and beautiful jlh was always an understanding of nature. She often takes the initiative, however, does not cease to be female in form, and when Jon broke the news that Odie had fled, not to any accusations Jon. What an understanding of character Liz Wilson, DVM is in this movie. While there are no nerve racking conflict and the difference between the two human players, the conflict is between Garfield and Odie, the story arcs for 30 minutes towards the main plot in the final, expected to reach the point where the Cat would say "I can not believe I've sunk this low" when an animal pounds admits that it is his will as he is the only one capable of rescuing the poor mad dog of the tele-plagiairus. A failure can be, but this movie has enough charm and a line of felines the title character .... Grade C +
