A teacher by the name of Andrej Evilenko (played by Malcolm McDowell) was shot after he tried to a violation of their young students. The first scene is truly disturbing and shocking. From there it gets worse when this man decides he likes to kill communist. Mr McDowell does an excellent job as a creepy real-life serial murderer. Now, having said that, I'm not sure how much all of the story is really real. Its quite credible, though. All this being said, all those who took part in the movie was great and the action was well done. The film as a whole is good, but also a little too much (well, maybe not to some viewers). The film is to quit and graphics intensive, but not for free is good. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in history, or someone in the cast. Apart from that, though, I would say to him if you really want to see. I rate this 7 / 10 (mainly by the excellent acting). (my ranking) Rated R for disturbing violent and aberrant sexual content, nudity and some language
I bought the DVD because I remembered the movie very powerful on Chekotylo. The problem is that the movie I was reminded of "Citizen X", not "Evilenko." Evilenko is stupid, absolutely surreal film classic Italian cheap junk. McDovell tries to save the movie, but the script is too chaotic and unrealistic. The story is not true, even if you try to pretend. The most strange is the fact that the movement is too boring, which is really strange for the mass murder thriller. Only the first 20 minutes or so are interesting, but unfortunately boredom another tough 100 minutes! It was so boring that could not be seen until the end. Well, lost 2 Euros (at least it is cheap). His spare time and money - see "Citizen X" instead.
Evilenko is one of those rare moments in the history of cinema, where a (nearly) perfect combination of elegance and perversion success in developing a disturbing portrait of the world in which we live. Acting, script, direction, music and scenes, all contribute to creating a realistic, dark atmosphere of decay and horror inside. History says this is somewhere in Russia during the era Gorbacev. However, we can locate it all over the world - everywhere there is a school, and there is a hierarchy willing to cover even the worst of crimes. Malcolm McDowell creates one of the most credible, disgusting and disturbing monsters ever seen on screen. It is not fascinating as Hannibal Lecter, altering its character is not clear enough to be aware of its harmful attitude. This is the first film Grieco: not a bad debut! The film has not really been distributed in Italy, and I see the average score at IMDb is very low. I understand that this is not the usual movie research, so it is difficult to be accepted. However, I found that a film is important, if not indeed a milestone.
Evilenko is done very well, I have seen twice already on DVD and Malcolm McDowell towers of the characterization of the Russian royal serial murderer should be recognized as an artistic achievement. No, it's not Citizen X, and it's a good thing. Citizen X, it reads like a plodding police investigation, comes across as a huge Evilenko reading of a murderer's personal hell. David Greico has written and directed an interesting and complete thorough review of Evilenko the minds and motivations. While the killings are handled dispassionately, the victims are not a dimensional, we feel for them, but Greece never sentimentalizes them. Definitely a cut above the average movie serial murderer.
A few years ago, I saw "Citizen X". I vaguely remembered this great movie and the horrible story is about when my attention was drawn to "Evilenko, the real citizen X" in the video store. It turned out to be a great disappointment. The description of the DVD cover is more exciting that the movie itself. The story skips randomly in time, leaving many questions unanswered, never really grabbing attention. The murderer has a lot of screen time in the first 20 minutes, so you feel like watching the events from their perspective. Of course, is a monster, but in a more pathetic than a horrible way. His ability to "hypnotise" leaves its victims from nowhere near the end of the film and does not make sense to me. A lot of would-be-interesting supporting characters do not have enough time to evolve beyond the level characters. Citizen Watch X instead Evilenko.
