Contact, based on the novel of the same name by Carl Sagan, is the story of a free thinking radio astronomer (Jodie Foster) who discovers an intelligent signal broadcast from deep space. She and her fellow scientists are able to decipher the Message and discover detailed instructions for building a mysterious Machine. Will the Machine spell the end of our world, or the end of our superstitions? Will we take our place among the races of the Galaxy, or are we just an upstart species with a long way to go?

This film came to me at exactly the right time in my life. In fact, I believe that there can only be reached all of us at exactly the right time. On the cusp of the millennium, there has been a (documented) resurgence in spiritual things, and this film (based on Dr. Sagan of life long commitment to reconciling the spiritual and the scientific), has something important to say . Do not invite the neighbors and their children to see this as a rental. Buy the DVD (and the DVD player, if it comes to that) and see that (several times) in the morning by yourself. That's what it meant to him.
Well, at least for me. This film describes all the feelings I've had about religion. It's a great movie in everything but the benefits by Matthew Mac (and yet you write). Part of the film could have been much better to make a better actor, but remains crucial to the film. In response to the review once hated the film because they only saw a foreigner. Well, DUH! Sorry, but what would you think that this was a movie about foreigners. "A journey into the heart of the universe." - Where do spaceships and aliens in the movie for that price. Also, if you can not get nothing from a film of this great're doomed to what I call "public" stupidity. Back to the growing film. Yes, that is. Well, if you do not think so, that is fine - science and religion do not interest everyone. But I think this movie is a thread that binds us all together. And that is where we come from? And where are we headed? " Whether it is this plant or another, we want to know, but never will.
Contact (1997), directed by Robert Zemeckis may be a Sci-Fi movie, but for me it's primarily a philosophical one. If you are expecting an action movie with the UFO, as Independence Day (1996), then you picked the wrong movie. The film's main theme is science versus faith, and their morale is that there are things in life that one must accept without proof. This raises questions as the existence of god, the existence of intelligent life somewhere in the universe, where we came from and what we are doing in the land (as a good example for the adoption of some of these elements and ruining them, see K -PAX (2001)). Technical aspect is first class: Excellent direction (Robert Zemeckis), film (Don Burgess), music (Alan Silvestri, Zemeckis' regular), script (based on the novel by late astronomer Carl Sagan), sound, editing and the air intake special effects - while a large part of them is "natural" and difficult to notice. The impressive division includes Jodie Foster (in an Oscar-worthy performance), Tom Skerritt, David Morse, James Woods, Angela Bassett, Jake Busey, the fabulous John Hurt, the ever-annoying Matthew McConaughey, and many other guests. 8.5/10
I think this is the best movie I've seen, if possible, the reality is exactly like playing in this show. A word to describe this movie ....... perfect. The DVD is another must have with their special characteristics, but the special audio principals and special effects to be avoided, since it removes the magic of the film ..... sit down and be ready to be entertained. A good trip.
This is a great movie. I read the book after seeing it and recommend one to do the reverse. The book, comparatively, there were a lot of padding and the film wall in the story beautifully. However, the book was powerful in that great detail. Jodie Foster, while unlike the characters in the book, it's wonderful. And thanks to the stars is his love interest Matthew McConaughey, not the circus-tattooed-ray-struck Sagan expected fellow citizens. All is forgiven for that act alone. I personally assume that a second trip to the cosmos to spend my remaining years with Matt. The power of the idea of Sagan-consideration of life elsewhere imposed accepted Earth Sciences, is carried out in this movie. The details of the plot does not matter, really. Sagan point is well taken and transmitted faithfully.
This film is one of the few who can see again and again without tiring of it. When I saw for the first time in a theater, I did not leave until the credits are over because I was so stunned by it. I have seen quite a few times after that, and I think it is only as good as the first time I saw him. Of course, after seeing a movie several times, you know what comes next when you see, but still ...
