First let me preface this post by saying that I am a fan of the original Star Wars MOVIES ... I do not read books, play games, used clothing or eat cereals (if there is one). I'm just a fan of the films. With that said, I struggle to see how people are given this film such high praise. Taking this movie itself, rather than comparing it with its predecessors terrible (PE 1, 2), I do not understand how you can say this is an incredible movie. For all of the terrible shortcomings in the script - Cheesy dialogue, contrived scenes (ie, R2 suddenly being a badass, and much CGI scenes of intense persecution that they have little human contact), horrible acting, and noted the plot holes ... How is this good? There was no real internal dilemma within Anakin, who just looked like a switch is changed and suddenly he was evil. I was not interested in the movie until the last 20 minutes or so (which incidentally was ruined by the "NOOOOOO!" Frankenstein scene). When the screen is bombarded with incredible intensity effects and CGI to fill in the gaps with an absolutely atrocious line when more could and should have been said, this is not a great movie. For a movie with that "dark" tone, there were too lightly in the speech of all characters. I conclude with a question: Since the beginning until the end of the film, was actually a sense of urgency and importance of what is really going to take place? |
I had the opportunity to see the film at the beginning of Mannheim in Germany on May 18, 2005. And my dad took me 3 hours just to see this movie. I told my dad that this would be the last film I ever really want to see. I was a kid in for a surprise ... The sound was excellent, the effects truly masterful. Ewan did a great job, as always, like Obi-wan. Anakin did very well, played the part with conviction and aplomb. The love story worked, the dialogue was good, and JAR-JAR said a word. Although there were some scenes that could have been done a little better. (Cc Mace Anakin Palpatine) The transformation expected Cheesy at times, as well as the dialogue Anakin turn to the Darkside. I wish the duels could have been longer and that the final duel would have been a little more than a set-oriented. There are some impossible feats (mount the robot on the lava was a bit much) but hey, its starwars! Over all, it is not out of the movie. Hopefully, these things can be corrected with the release of DVD Nov. 1! |
This film is pure tripe. So many plot holes left open, so little to explain the turn of Anakin to the dark side - is almost laughable. I saw the movie with my girlfriend and we just wait and become another during some of the dialogues and groaned. The action sequences are not well executed, even if the graphics are excellent. I would have preferred to see Yoda do something really good - he did nothing in Episode 2, and nothing in Episode 3. The only two characters who are serving any decent Obi Wan and Mace Windu. Otherwise, pure rubbish. Save your money and wait for video. |
