A New Orleans detective is leading an investigation into a killer who is raping and murdering women. His enquiries lead him into the seedy side of town where he is no stranger off-duty. All this contrasts with his home life as a single parent with two young girls. Then on the case he meets rape counsellor Beryl Thibodeaux with whom a relationship possibly offering some normalcy starts to develop.

As usual, Clint Eastwood offers an excellent performance as a detective in charge of the search for a serial murderer. This film was made before the glamorization of "serial murderers" in which the focus is on strangers to Whack-Antics of the insane murderer rather normal people. Clint is also a single father of two girls and the growing similarity between the threat that the murderer and the police becomes a concern.

Clint Eastwood is Wes Block, a detective with what is almost a threefold lifestyle. In one is a policeman, not even a good cop. In the second is the father of her two daughters to his left by a woman who finds another man. In the third, which is kid who likes to visit prostitutes and get dirty. The three separate parts to a large extent on Wes Block come dangerously close to another when he begins to investigate a serial murderer who frequents the red light district. The murderer is not only likely to be a former police familiar with the procedure of the police, but he also knows Wes bloc. Clint Eastwood gives an excellent performance as a man with problems on many fronts and trying to cope with everything. He has his signature Emotionless face, but Eastwood has made his characters almost always clear, but only on the surface. In many packages subtleties in a dark role that is well-directed film in a rough, obviously, by a talented director / writer who has made surprisingly few films. Inside the dark is out of control in this thriller set in New Orleans. A veteran police (Clint Eastwood) is jeopardized when evidence links to the serial murders under investigation. Geneviève Bujold co-stars. Twelve-year-old Alison Eastwood plays one of the police of two daughters, and surprisingly have yours. This thriller is the shade value of your time. The pace is a bit slow, but very intense. Some pretty cool joint and soft jazz. Not too relaxed.
